Frequently Asked, Honestly Answered
Ask Dammit.
We get the same dozen questions about ten times a week. Here they are, answered straight. If yours isn't here, hit hello@getdamgood.com and Andrey will write back. Real human, no chatbot.
The Product
Does it really work on engine grease?
Yes. Citric acid + sodium bicarbonate creates a fizzing reaction that lifts ground-in grease from pores and nail beds. A fine pumice grit does the mechanical scraping. D-limonene (the citrus terpene) dissolves the oils. Two scrubs takes off what bar soap can't touch in ten. Read the chemistry →
Will it dry my hands out?
No. The scrub is sulfate-free. It strips grease but not the skin's natural oils. The seal (Beaver Seal balm) is the after step — beeswax, shea, lanolin, panthenol, allantoin — for if you're rough on your hands all day. See how the seal's 12 actives work →
What's in it? Any allergens?
Beaver Scrub: sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, pumice (fine grade), kaolin clay, d-limonene (citrus), sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSA — coconut-derived). No fragrance oils, no parabens, no sulfates, no petroleum.
Beaver Seal: beeswax, shea butter, raw lanolin (FDA OTC skin protectant), sweet almond oil, allantoin, panthenol (vitamin B5), alpha-bisabolol, centella asiatica, tamanu oil, sea buckthorn oil, squalane, rosehip seed oil, zinc oxide (FDA OTC skin protectant), colloidal oatmeal (FDA OTC skin protectant), calendula extract, vitamin E.
Beaver Beard Oil: jojoba oil, argan oil, rosemary essential oil, peppermint essential oil, pumpkin seed oil. See the RCTs behind it →
Beaver Wash: niacinamide (vitamin B3), glycerin, allantoin, panthenol, willow bark extract, decyl glucoside (coconut-derived). See the niacinamide research →
Allergens to note: tree nut (almond, argan), lanolin (wool-derived), oat. If you've got a known allergy, email us first.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Most people. The scrub is on the gentle side of mechanic-grade. If you've got eczema or broken skin, use the seal first, scrub after — the seal contains colloidal oatmeal and allantoin, both FDA OTC skin protectants. If a patch tests rough, stop using it and email us — we'll refund.
How long does a tin last?
Working-hands daily use: about 6 weeks on the 8oz Beaver Scrub, about 3 months on the 2oz Beaver Seal, about 8 weeks on the 1oz Beaver Beard Oil, about 8 weeks on the 4oz Beaver Wash. Casual use: 3+ months and 6+ months. We sell subscriptions because nobody wants to think about it twice.
Where can I see the research?
Right here: The Science. We published every peer-reviewed paper behind every active ingredient. 26 cited studies across the four products. Per-product breakdowns for the Scrub, the Seal, the Beard Oil, and the Wash — each links to the actual PubMed records. We'd rather you read them than take our word for it.
The Tin
Why a tin and not a plastic bottle?
Plastic gets greasy and slips. Tins don't. Tins also sit on a workbench without falling over, can be refilled (we'll be selling refill pouches in series 002), and last forever. We also just think they look better.
Can I refill the tin?
Series 002 will ship with refill pouches at a lower price point. For now, hold onto your tin — first-edition tins will fit forever.
Does it spill if I lay it on its side?
The scrub is a dry powder until water hits it, so no. The seal is a solid balm at room temp. Both can ride in a glovebox or toolbox without issue.
Shipping & Returns
When does my preorder ship?
Doors open June 22, 2026, 10am Central. The first batch ships the week of June 25. Founder chips (#001–100) go with the first 100 orders. Free shipping on $100+ orders.
Do you ship internationally?
US and Canada at launch. International (EU, AU, UK) coming Q4 2026 once we sort customs on the lanolin and beeswax. Add yourself to the launch list and we'll write when those open.
If it doesn't work, can I return it?
30 days. Don't even ship it back — just email us with the order number and a one-line "didn't work" and we refund. We make this stuff because we use it. If it's wrong for you, we'd rather refund than argue.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Anytime, in two clicks, from your account page. No "schedule a call" nonsense.
The Wisdom Chips
What's a Wisdom Chip?
A walnut disc with one of our brand sayings laser-burned into the front, a serial number on the back. Roughly 1-in-5 Beaver Scrub tins contains one. Full collector page here.
How do I know if mine is rare?
Series 001 has 4 tiers: Common (800 chips), Rare (175), Ultra (25), Founder (100, reserved for first 100 preorder shippers). Founder and Ultra have visual markers (brass inlay, hand-signed). Check the back for the rarity stamp.
Can I buy a chip without buying a tin?
No. That's the point — chips can't be purchased separately. They live in tins. The dam crew trades chips with each other once they have duplicates.
How does the registry work?
Enter your serial number at getdamgood.com/chips to bind it to your name. The registry shows whose chip is whose so resale and trading is honest. Optional — your chip is still real whether you register or not.
Wholesale & Custom
Can my shop carry DAM GOOD?
Yes. Email wholesale@getdamgood.com with shop name, location, and what you sell. MOQ is one case (24 tins). We're particularly interested in tool stores, hardware co-ops, body shops, and fly shops.
Can you private-label this for my company?
For runs of 250+ tins, yes. Same formula, your label, your wisdom chip. Email wholesale@getdamgood.com for pricing.
Dammit
Is Dammit real?
He's the foreman of the dam crew. He's tested every batch. He's fine.
Why a beaver?
Beavers build with their hands. They show up every day. They don't post about it. We thought that summed it up.
Did you really test on Dammit?
He's fine.
